Files provided in the Geological Survey of Canada's Open File 5814: Estimated Seismic Design Values for Canadian Missions Abroad All files are plain ASCII text unless otherwise indicated. pdf documents can be read using Adobe Reader®, which can be downloaded from the Adobe website at www.adobe.com OF5814_AdamsHalchukAwatta.pdf - Open File 5814 report (Adobe pdf format) OF5814_Missions_2%in50spectra.xls – Microsoft Excel file provides approximate seismic values for design of embassy buildings. The values are based on the GSHAP (10%/50 year PGA) map values adjusted to give spectral values at 2% in 50 years. See report for further details. OF5814_conversionfactorsfrom10%PGAto2%final.xls - Microsoft Excel file provides conversion factors from 10%/50 year PGA values to 2% in 50 year spectral values. OF5814_Missions_sp_category.kmz – Google Earth file that for each Canadian mission contains the estimated Sa(0.2) and Sa(1.0) hazard values at 2%/50 year probability, along with the RVS short period seismic hazard category. Where available, additional information on the mission’s age, area, and number of floors has been provided. For use with Google Earth, available for download from earth.google.com OF5814_README.txt - explanation of files (this document) licence_e.pdf - End-user agreement for digital data (Adobe pdf format) OF5814_Missions – directory which contains subdirectories for 90 locations: Abidjan, AbuDhabi, Abuja, Accra, AddisAbaba, Algiers, Almaty, Amman, Anchorage, Ankara, Athens, Auckland, Bamako, BandarSeriBegawan, Bangkok, Barcelona, Beirut, Belgrade, Berne, Bogota, Bratislava, Bridgetown, Brussels, Budapest, Canberra, Caracas, Chandigarh, Damascus, Dhaka, Dubai, Geneva, Guadalajara, GuatemalaCity, Hanoi, Havana, Hiroshima, Islamabad, Jakarta, Kabul, Karachi, Kathmandu, Kigali, Kingston, KualaLumpur, Kuwait, Lagos, LaPaz, Lima, Lisbon, LosAngeles, Managua, Manila, Mexico, Montreal, Nagoya, NewDelhi, PaloAlto, Panama, Phoenix, PortauPrince, PortofSpain, Quito, Rabat, Ramallah, Reykjavik, Rome, SanDiego, SanFrancisco, SanJose, SanSalvador, Santiago, SantoDomingo, Sapporo, Sarajevo, Seattle, Singapore, Sofia, Sydney, Taipei, Tegucigalpa, Tehran, TelAviv, Tokyo, Tripoli, Tucson, Tunis, Vatican, Vienna, Wellington, Zagreb All of the individual location directories contain the following files: LocationName.txt - earthquake solutions extracted from the ISC database in the vicinity of the city’s coordinates. Entries are in ISC format and a header describing each of the columns is included in the file. LocationName-hist.txt - earthquakes extracted from the NOAA Significant Earthquakes World Wide database within 500 km of the city’s coordinates. Entries are in NOAA format and column headings are labelled in the file. For some of the locations, the following additional files were generated: LocationName.eqdatMW.xls – Excel spreadsheet listing combined catalogs converted to Moment magnitude Mw and plotted to show completeness years. Columns in the spreadsheet are: Year, MonthDay, Latitude, Longitude, Equivalent Moment Magnitude, Depth(km), Agency, Original Magnitude, Original Magnitude type. LocationName.beta.ps – postscript image showing magnitude recurrence curves determined for the city. LocationName.feltat.ps – postscript image showing the estimated intensity of shaking of all earthquakes in the combined catalog.
