Directory Structure on CD-ROM ----------------------------------------- The CD-ROM is divided into the following directories: \ - Contains this readme file, an end-user agreement for digital data (licence.txt); and a file containing the recommended citation (citation.txt). \apps - Contains ESRI® ArcReader™ v. 9.2 software (see below for information on installation). \data - Contains data files designed for GIS and database analysis and querying. \doc - Contains documents in Hypertext Markup Language (HTML). \HTML - Directory for HTML format. \images - Contains images for HTML files. \GIS_Map - Contains Published Map File (PMF) and shape files for viewing using ArcReader. Applications Directory (\apps) -------------------------------------- Contains installation file for ArcReader™ for use where ArcGIS software is not already installed. The installation file for ArcReader™ v 9.2 for Windows® was downloaded from http://www.esri.com/software/arcgis/arcreader/download.html. Please visit this web site for system requirements, and further information on the product. Installation of ArcReader™ under Windows® requires administrator privileges. During installation, files are put in the TEMP directory. A TEMP environment variable must be set and the TEMP directory should be writable. To install ArcReader™, unzip the file ArcReader92.zip to a convenient folder and then run or double-click on the file setup.exe file and follow the instructions of the installation wizard. To view the digital data once ArcReader™ has been installed, navigate to the GIS_Map folder on the CD-ROM and double-click on the file MAP5680.pmf. Data Directory (\data) ---------------------- Contains GIS data in SHAPE file format. The GIS map feature class names and attributes are explained in the \doc\html\descript.htm file on this CD. GIS Map Directory (\GIS_Map) --------------------------------------- Contains all files required for displaying the data with ArcReader™. This map is intended to demonstrate the utility of GIS and is not meant to display all capabilities of the paleontological data nor the entire attribute set of the Geomatics Canada data.
