If you do not have Execl, an Excel viewer is included in the \apps directory (xlViewer.exe). It is a free product from Microsoft Corporation and can be loaded onto your pc ONLY IF EXCEL IS NOT ALREADY LOADED. See the readme.txt and licence.txt files in the \apps directory for more information. 3) ASCII text format (this file) 4) Shape and associated files, .grd, .tif (common file formats for most GIS software) Directory Structure and Contents of CD: -------------------------------------- This is an Auto-Play CD-ROM for Microsoft Windows 95/98/NT/XP. Inserting the CD into your CD-ROM drive should automatically launch index.html in your browser (Netscape or Internet Explorer). Index.html is a web page from which you can view the the Open File papers and appendices, provided you have Adobe Acrobat and MS-Excel (or Excel viewer) loaded. If index.html does not automatically launch, navigate to index.html at the root of this CD using Windows Explorer. There are files at the root of the CD: 1) ReadMe.txt - this file 2) licence_e.pdf - NRCan's end user agreement for digital data 3) files related to "autorun.exe" (autorun.inf, autorun.inf, index.html, logo+Pitcture.htm, OpenFile5344-TOC.html, OpenFile5433.log, photo1.jpg, phot+logos.jpg 4) OPenfile5344.pdf - the complete Open File (not including the database) There are three directories: 1. IdividualPapers This contains all the individual papers and the first three appendicies as .pdf files. They can be opened directly using Adobe Acrobat. They are also linked to the index that is opened automatically when the DVD is inserted. 2. Openfile5433 This directory contains two files necessary for searching the pdf version of the OpenFile 3. Appendix 4 This directory contains the 2-D GIS database with over 200 geoscience data sets in shapefile format as well as grid, images and excel tables, that provide a scientific framework for the Greater Nahanni Ecosystem and immediate area. The data sets were compiled from scientific or various surveys and research studies conducted for MERA 2 but include data from MERA 1 as well as from other public sources. Data sets include geochemistry (stream, spring, whole rock and isotope), geophysics (aeromagnetic, radiometric and gravity), geology (bedrock and surficial), structural, mineral deposit, base, watershed, and digital elevation and Landsat imagery. A meta data file is included. This can be used with any software that recognizes shape file formats.
