This CD contains data and documentation describing the operations and preliminary compilation and interpreteive results from CCGS Hudson expedition 2005023.Open File 5058. The contents of the CD includes several folders as follows: _______________ 1. Report: CruiseReport_King.pdf -- this report describes the expedition methods, proceedures, itinerary, initial data compilation and preliminary results from the Geological Survey of Canada cruise. This report was created using Microsoft Word, ESRI ArcMap, Microsoft Excel and Corel Draw!* software and exported to Adobe PDF format. The sub-folder contains the MSWord (v.6) version which excludes many of the illustrations and tables. 2. Stations -- this folder contains: a. Station information summary in native (Excel)format. 2005023_Station_Summary.xls b. GIS_Shapefiles: This contains the shapefile and associated files for the above stations in GIS format. a freeware reader is available (see end of this text file). 3. Reader_5.0_Windows - this folder contains Acrobat Reader ver. 5.0 for Windows and Macintosh PPC The files in PDF format can be viewed with Acrobat Reader as provided. Installing Adobe Acrobat reader for Windows AcroRd32.exe These files are self-extracting files for installing Adobe Acrobat reader version 5.0. 4. Photographs - this folder contains four sub-folders: in jpeg format unless otherwise stated a. Gear_Photos: Key equipment, either in use or on deck b. Illustrational_Technique: jpeg and mpeg format pictures and videos of technique for sediment boxcore extraction for epoxy peels c. Staff_Photos d. Station_Photos: This folder contains four sub-folders: i. Epoxy_Peel_Photos: in tiff format; these are the resin peel photographs for enhansing sedimentary structure and textural contrast ii. Seabed_Photos: this contains a separate folder with seabed photographs and a folder (Photo_Descriptions) containing Excel files of photograph metadata and textural, biological and bedform descriptions. It also contains the shapefile and associated files for GIS iii. Station_Sample_onboard_Photos: These are the photos of the samples as they come on the deck 5. Navigation: Excel and GIS shapefiles (ESRI® ArcMap Version 8.x) of the ship antenna position (DGPS) during times of data gathering. They differentiate the type of geophysical data being collected. A separate folder contains manupiulated navigation derived largely from sidescan towfish positioning. See report for accuracy limitations. 6. Geophysical: Excel format files of the various logs of geophysical records, and geophysical equipment parameter logging. Also in pdf format in the report. ____________________ To begin installation locate the files using Windows Explorer and double-click on the file appropriate for your system.
