ReadMe.ASC Open File - 2178 Location - Ontario NGR Number - 140 Survey Type - Stream Release Year - 1990 Disc Volume - ONT78_1990 The data on the floppy disc that forms part of the Open File Report has the following format: Each disc has 5 files, README.ASC, containing this material you are reading, TITLE.HDR, OF2178.DOS, an ASCII version of the original hardcopy preface, and for the data itself, 031M.NGR and 032D.NGR TITLE.HDR is a file with five records in it. Record 1 - Field Numbers 1 to 74 Field 1 to 24 - geological field data Field 25 to 74 - analytical data Record 2 - Field 1 to 24 - line 1 of the field data title Field 25 to 74 - chemical symbol for element or analysis performed (eg pH, LOI) Record 3 - Field 1 to 24 - line 2 of the field data title Field 25 to 74 - units of measurement (eg ppm, ppb) Record 4 - Field 1 to 24 - spaces Field 25 to 74 - lower detection limit for analysis performed Record 5 - Field 1 to 24 - spaces Field 25 to 74 - method of analysis The data is stored in fields separated by commas, as a flat ASCII file. Most PC data base programs shoud be capable of using these files. The files 031M.NGR and 032D.NGR contain the geological field and analytical data, with the geological field data in fields 1 to 24, and the analytical data in fields 25 to 74. In general the data follows the same arrangement as the text of the open file report, except that for measurements below the detection limit, the value is retained as `
