Abstract: The Seismic Shothole Litholog Geodatabase is a compilation of 75, 784 individual, augered shothole records collected during 1960’s and 1970’s geotechnical seismic operations, conducted along the Mackenzie corridor, NWT, and northern Yukon Territory. Compiled in a Microsoft Access® database, spatially heterogeneous shothole data (reflecting past areas of focus of petroleum exploration) extend across 49 NTS 1:250 000 map areas(85 C, D, E, F, L; 95 A, B, G, H, I, J, K, N, O; 96 B, C, D, E, F, L, M, N; 97 B, C; 106 G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P; 107 A, B, C, D; 116 F, G, H, I, J, K, N, O, P; 117 A, D). The shothole litholog records provide baseline, shallow (<20 m) lithostratigraphic and geoscience information on surficial and bedrock geology, hydrogeology, geohazards, granular aggregate resources, massive ground ice, and permafrost distribution. The database has been designed in a manner that allows it to be easily queried. A series of companion GIS geodatabases and shapefiles have been constructed from the shothole database. These include variably scaled drift isopach maps illustrating the thickness of drift overlying bedrock, and shapefiles identifying potential granular aggregate resources, permafrost and massive ground ice distribution, geohazards, and muskeg thickness. Information rendered from these geodatabases will benefit a wide variety of users (e.g., industry, government, communities, environmental consultants), and applications (e.g., resource management, land use planning, environmental assessments, infrastructure development and seismic exploration). This initial version of the database focused on the digital rendering of a large card file archive of shothole records. Future database versions and updated GIS geodatabases will incorporate extensive (>40 000) archival and recent shothole records currently being copied from various companies. Purpose: Provided as part of the Secure Canadian Energy Supply Program, Northern Energy Development - Mackenzie Valley Pipeline project Supplemental_Information: Database and GIS constructed from individual seismic shothole litholog records providing lithostratigraphic information on shallow (<20 m) unconsolidated drift materials and bedrock. Data extends throughout the Mackenzie corridor, NWT, and northern Yukon Territory, covering parts or all of NTS map areas 85, 95, 96, 106, 107, 116, and 117.
