Résumé | (disponible en anglais seulement) In 2019, Nunavut became Canada's third-largest gold producer after Ontario and Quebec. Approximately 17 tonnes (~547,000 ounces) of gold were mined from three
mines: Meadowbank (Portage, Vault and Amaruq deposits), Meliadine (Tiriganiaq) and Doris (Hope Bay belt). Accessing and developing these northern areas still poses significant logistical and technical challenges. However, the development of these
mines has allowed the industry to gain the expertise needed to optimize operations and tap into the gold potential of northern regions. Because they contain more than 100 tonnes of gold, some of Nunavut's gold deposits are considered world class.
Among the most significant in Canada in terms of gold grade and tonnage, they highlight Nunavut's exceptional geology and mineral potential. |
Sommaire | (Résumé en langage clair et simple, non publié) Cette contribution résume les principales caractéristiques des gisements et mines d'or les plus significatifs du Nunavut et s'adresse à un
public général. |
