Résumé(disponible en anglais seulement)
It is with mixed feelings that we look back at the subduction zone megathrust earthquakes of the past five years (since January 2007), 18 of which are greater than moment magnitude (M) 7.5, and 5 greater than M 8. With awe and sadness, we remember the devastation caused by the tsunamis they induced, especially that of the Tohoku earthquake of March 2011 that caused ~20,000 deaths. With excitement, we recognize how the huge amount of data they provided has improved our knowledge.
