Résumé(Sommaire disponible en anglais seulement)
Paleoseismic and paleotsunami investigations by Natural Resources Canada require high resolution topographic data for southern Vancouver Island, British Columbia. In the Fall of 2010, 869.2 km2 of Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) data and digital aerial imagery were obtained through a Contribution Agreement with the University of Victoria. The area covered includes Saanich Peninsula, some Gulf Islands, and the western side of Saanich Inlet from ~1 km north of Mill Bay to Ladysmith (Fig.1; from 48°27.7' to 48°59.9' N and 123°10.3' to 123°48.7'W). The open file contains a 2 m x 2 m bare-earth digital elevation model (DEM) derived from the LiDAR data and simultaneously acquired colour aerial imagery (0.25 m x 0.25 m pixel size). This data complements Lidar and imagery acquired in 2007 covering the greater Victoria area and the Leech River Fault Zone (James et al., 2010, GSC Open File 6211).
