Résumé(disponible en anglais seulement)
It has been suggested that metallogenic epochs are related to cycles of supercontinent formation and mantle plume events (e.g. Groves et al., 2005; Barley and Groves, 2001). Canada (ca 10,000,000 km2) forms about 7% of the earth's land area. Its geological record includes representation of most ages of continental crust and most mineral deposits types found elsewhere in the world. Data for Canada therefore gives a good indication of the global relationships between metallogenetic events and other geological processes over a wide range of earth history. This poster summarizes those large scale aspects of Canada's geology and mineral deposits that are relevant both to a discussion on the relationships of metallogenetic epochs and provinces to processes of lithosphere evolution as well as problems inherent to mineral resource prognostication.
