Abstract. Sections of drill-core from bore-holes drilled in the vicinity of the AECL Underground Researcb Laboratory, Pinawa. Manitoba, show approximate power-law relations between the partition function of fracture intensity and sample size (length of drill-core). This indicates multifractality due to self-similarity of the underlying tectonic processes. The power-Law relations can be used to estimate variances and semivariograms. A good first approximation of the multifractal model is provided by the binomial multiplicative cascade model with fractal support.
