The colonial corals Favistina honoratensis n. sp. and Saffordophyllum sp. A date the Honorat Croup rocks of the Mount Saint Joseph area, Gaspé, Québec as Late
Ordovician. The close relationship between Palaeophyllum, Favistma, and Cyathophylloides is demonstrated by a series of gradually developing Late Ordovician loosely fasciculate to cateniform growth forms of Palaeophyllum vaurealensis Twenhof el from
the Vauréal Formation of Anticosti Island through tightly fasciculate colonies of P. clion n. sp. and cerioid Cyathophylloides lyterion n. sp. from the overlying Ellis Bay Formation. |
