AbstractThe Doyon-Bousquet-LaRonde camp is a key mining area in Quebec and Canada due to its socio-economic impact stemming from the exploitation of major gold deposits and the production of by-products such as copper, zinc and silver. This camp is also exceptional from a geological standpoint, thanks to its world-class gold deposits, including some of the best examples of gold-rich volcanogenic massive sulphide deposits in the world. The camp also provides a unique case study as it contains contrasting types of mineralization in a large Archean-age magmatic-hydrothermal system. This article presents an overview of the contributions of this exceptional mining camp to regional, provincial and national economic development and to the evolution of knowledge and metallogenic models.
Summary(Plain Language Summary, not published)
