Summary(Plain Language Summary, not published)
This case study describes the Stormwater Interagency Liaison Group, which comprises Metro Vancouver, its member municipalities, and provincial and federal environmental agencies. The Group facilitates the co-ordination and sharing of common research related to stormwater management and created a template for developing watershed-specific, flexible and adaptive strategies, known as Integrated Stormwater Management Plans (ISMPs). Roughly 25 ISMPs have been completed, leading to municipalities adopting measures like on-site rainfall retention, re-naturalisation of streams, reduction targets for total impervious area, and improved public access to waterways. ISMPs are tools that improve capacity to deal with environmental risks, including those related to climate change.
