Summary(Plain Language Summary, not published)
The presentation will be given at the annual Canadian Risk and Hazards Network Symposium to be held in November 2015 in Calgary, Alberta. The focus of this talk will be on risk assessment tools that can help increase the awareness of risk and provide information to those developing mitigation plans. Within the Public Safety Geoscience Program at Natural Resources Canada, we are developing and adapting risk assessment tools that can be used by Canadians to help assess their risk to natural hazards. This presentation will share some of the recent work that has been accomplished by the risk team. A discussion will provide the opportunity to solicit feedback from decision makers involved in risk awareness and mitigation planning. Examples will be provided for both risks to riverine floods and earthquakes in Canada.
