Summary(Plain Language Summary, not published)
Samples of bedrock were collected from near the seafloor during several Geological Survey of Canada cruises between 1974 and 1985. The rock materials collected represent crystalline basement, Paleozoic sedimentary strata, Paleocene basalts and Mesozoic-Cenozoic sedimentary rocks. These materials represent some of the only samples from the western Davis Strait and eastern Baffin Island margin and are important to studying and understanding the rifting history of the region during the Cretaceous through early Cenozoic. This study presents some new insights on these materials from a lithological, ichnological, palynological and paleoenvironmental perspective, and thus further adds to the understanding of the rift-related stratigraphy.
