Abstract(Summary)
This report releases whole-rock geochemical and assay results of 614 samples from the Westwood deposit, collected during the 2011 to 2014 field seasons as part of a PhD study by the senior author (Yergeau, 2015) at the Institut National de la Recherche scientifique, Centre Eau, Terre, Environment (INRS-ETE) in Quebec City. Research at Westwood was conducted under the Lode Gold Ore System Project and analytical data is presented in a format easily importable in a geographic information system (GIS). Samples were collected from surface and underground exposures, and from drillcore to document host units, the alteration zones and the ore. Interpretations are presented in Yergeau (2015) and Yergeau et al. (2015). Sample information and geochemical results are presented in Appendices 1 and 2 (worksheet 'Results') respectively.
Summary(Plain Language Summary, not published)
The Targeted Geoscience Initiative (TGI-4) is a collaborative federal geoscience program that provides industry with the next generation of geoscience knowledge and innovative techniques to better detect buried mineral deposits, thereby reducing some of the risks of exploration. As part of TGI-4, the Westwood deposit located in Quebec was studied through a PhD thesis of the senior author in collaboration between the GSC, Iamgold Corporation, the INRS-ETE, and the MERN. In the course of the study a series of xxx samples were collected, over a three year span (2011 to 2013) and were analysed at ActLabs, in order to characterize the geological setting, hydrothermal footprint and metal signature of the Westwood hydrothermal system. This open file releases the geochemical results and related information associated to these samples.
