Summary(Plain Language Summary, not published)
This open file report presents an overview of the Quaternary mapping methods and the nature of the surficial sediments observed on the Amaruq gold exploration project in central mainland Nunavut. The work was completed as part of an MSc thesis on the surficial geology of the Amaruq area. Two maps at the regional and detailed scales in the vicinity of Amaruq are included in the report. The Geological Survey of Canada was involved in co-supervising the student within the Chaire de recherche industrielle CRSNG¿Agnico Eagle en exploration minérale at Laval University. The study area lies inside the GEM-2 Glacial Synthesis Rae Activity area and the work provides new geological knowledge on the nature and composition of surficial materials deposited during the retreat of the Laurentide Ice Sheet.
