AbstractWith the collaboration of J.H. Hodgson, the writer has used the Byerly method to determine the focal mechanism of three strong Anatolian earthquakes which took place in 1957. For the first of these (in Fethiye, April 24, 1957) movement was vertical on a vertical plane. For the other two earthquakes (in Fethiye, April 25, 1957; in Abant, May 26, 1957) the movement was strike-slip.
