Summary(Plain Language Summary, not published)
Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) has evaluated the petroleum resource potential for Peel Sound, Prince Regent Inlet, Gulf of Boothia, Hecla Fury Strait and the northern portion of Foxe Basin. The evaluated areas have not been included in previous GSC petroleum resource assessment studies. Figure 1 illustrates the qualitative petroleum potential for the study area and includes the Lancaster Sound petroleum potential map published in Open File 8297 (Atkinson et al, 2017). The work supports NRCan's commitments under the Marine Conservation Targets initiative.
