Abstract(Summary)
In the Simcoe County study area, southern Ontario, high-resolution multicomponent seismic data have been collected and processed for compressional (P-) and shear (S-) wave reflection analysis. The data were obtained using a vibratory source/landstreamer data acquisition system in three field programs carried out in 2013, 2015 and 2016. The work was undertaken in collaboration with Ontario Geological Survey (OGS) three-dimensional sediment mapping investigations aimed at improving knowledge and understanding of sediment-hosted groundwater resources in the region. Ninety-six (96) line-km of seismic profile data, collected along 8 separate lines (Figure 1.) and constrained by 10 continuously cored boreholes and lesser quality water well records along profiles, provide new information on the thickness, stratigraphic architecture and characteristics of Quaternary sediments in the region.
