Abstract | A new, 1:550 000-scale bedrock geological compilation map of the central Rae Craton and eastern Queen Maud Block is presented that covers parts of northern mainland Nunavut and Southampton Island. The
accompanying map information document (and accompanying Excel files) provides an overview of the bedrock geology and contains abridged compilations of the U-Pb geochronology, neodymium isotopic tracer data, and mineral and hydrocarbon occurrences.
Digital versions of the complete tabular data (e.g. geochronology, includes U-Pb plus K-Ar, Ar-Ar, Rb-Sr, and Sm-Nd data) are included in Shapefile format. Bedrock geology and base map data are included in Shapefile and geodatabase formats
accompanied by font and symbol legend files. The bedrock geology of this area encompasses ca. 2.6 billion years of Earth history including Archean basement with Proterozoic and Paleozoic cover. The area hosts an active gold mine; numerous gold,
uranium, and base metal mineral occurrences; kimberlite pipes; and hydrocarbon seeps. |
Summary | (Plain Language Summary, not published) A new, 1:550 000 scale bedrock geological compilation map of the central Rae craton and eastern Queen Maud block is presented that covers parts of
northern mainland Nunavut and Southampton Island. An accompanying report provides an overview of the bedrock geology with appendices containing abridged compilations of the U/Pb geochronology, neodymium isotopic tracer data, and metallogeny (mineral
and hydrocarbon). Digital versions of the complete tabular data (e.g. geochronology includes U/Pb plus K-Ar, Ar-Ar, Rb-Sr, and Sm-Nd data) are included in Excel and shape file formats. Bedrock geology and base map data are included in shape file and
geodatabase format accompanied by font and symbol legend files. The bedrock geology of this area encompasses ca. 2.6 billion years of Earth history including Archean basement with Proterozoic and younger, Paleozoic cover. The area hosts an active
gold mine, numerous gold, uranium and base metal mineral occurrences, kimberlite pipes, and hydrocarbon seeps. |
