| Abstract | (Summary) This paper critically reviews the mining schemes at the existing oil sands plants and identifies several areas relating to operating methods, mining equipment selection and
utilization where further gains in productivity can be made. Discussed are the issues involved in the sizing of mine equipment, haulroad design and maintenance, equipment trafficability, and soil stabilizing. Methods to cope with high rolling
resistances encountered in oil sands mining have also been outlined. |
