Summary(Plain Language Summary, not published)
Deep below the seafloor of Baffin Bay, there are sedimentary basins with unknown potential for viable petroleum resources. This activity aims to understand the geological history and plate tectonic evolution of the sedimentary basins, and the factors that control the petroleum resource potential. We developed a regional compilation of sediment thickness, that is being combined with existing Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) samples, onshore stratigraphy, Ocean Drilling Program Site 645 reports, and conjugate Greenland margin published works to obtain updated age constraints from biostratigraphy, development of a sequence stratigraphic framework, and an improved understanding of the rift history of the Baffin Bay and Labrador Sea region.
