Summary | (Plain Language Summary, not published) This Hazus-MH 2.1 Canada software package is the Canadian adaptation of the US version of Hazus-MH 2.1. Hazus is a GIS-based hazard impact tool developed
in the US by the US National Institute of Building Science (NIBS), in partnership with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), to provide a national standard methodology for modelling the potential physical, economic and social impacts from
earthquakes, hurricanes, and floods. It was adapted by NRCan for use in Canada, and includes Canadian demographic and residential asset inventory databases. Hazus-MH 2.1 Canada applies NRCan earthquake hazard science in a tool now freely available
for any Canadian jurisdiction. Hazus outputs and analyses have many applications and have been used in a variety of sectors, including the insurance, geotechnical engineering, emergency management, city planning, and building design
sectors. |
