Summary(Plain Language Summary, not published)
Samples of kimberlite (which hosts diamond deposits) were analysed by conventional geochemical methods, and subject to a statistical treatment that classified the kimberlite into three phases. Subsequently, the rock powders were re-analyzed by a portable XRF (pXRF) spectrometer, and the data subjected to statistical treatment. Data acquired by pXRF allowed the kimberlite to be accurately classified, validating the application to exploration methodology.
