Summary(Plain Language Summary, not published)
This open file geoscience map synthesizes the state of understanding in a large part of the Canadian shield in parts of Nunavut, Northwest Territories, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Alberta. It comes from a joint research effort by the Geological Survey of Canada, the Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Alberta Geological Surveys. With much of the area last mapped prior to the advent of modern geophysical and remote sensing, this new synthesis utilized archived samples and field notes coupled with modern geoscience mapping in more accessible areas and new aeromagnetic data to completely revise the understanding of the most poorly known part of the Canadian Shield. It has improved our understanding about the nature, distribution and potential for rock units that host known nickel-copper, uranium and gold deposits and prospects.
