AbstractThe groundwater geochemistry of the Monterégie Est region, Quebec, was studied as part of a regional groundwater resources assessment project supported by the Quebec government. The study covers a 9000 km² area and three major watersheds. Groundwater from 225 wells was sampled and analyzed for physicochemical parameters, metals, anions and nutriments. Isotopic analyses were also made on selected samples: stable isotopes (delta2H, delta18O, delta13C and delta15N) and radioactive isotopes C and H for groundwater dating purposes. The interpretation of results provides an initial assessment of regional water quality.
