AbstractThis bulletin reports the results of a joint research project by the Geological Survey of Canada and the German Federal Institute for Geoscience and Natural Resources (Bundesanstalt für Geowissenschaften und Rohstoffe - BGR). Fieldwork was conducted on northeastern Ellesmere Island during the summers of 1998, 1999, and 2000. The objectives for the GSC were a systematic survey of the area and evaluation of mineral resources; the objectives for BGR were detailed structural and accom- panying stratigraphic investigations related to Cretaceous-Tertiary circum-Arctic events. The area is of commercial interest because of known mineral occurrences and because of the offshore hydrocarbon potential of Kane Basin and northern Baffin Bay.
