Abstract | Accurate and consistent radiometric calibration of satellite data in quasi-real time processing is difficult because of the decay in the radiometric sensitivity of the sensor systems, particularly if
there is no on-board calibration capability. A procedure is outlined that permits applying a best estimate of the calibration coefficients at the time of processing, whether the processing is carried out immediately after acquisition or at any time
later. The procedure is illustrated using NOAA -09 and -11 AVHRR sensors and the relevant calibration coefficients are tabulated. |
