Abstract(Summary)
SOQUIP was mandated by the Geological Survey of Canada, to provide an up-to-date geological, geophysical and geochemical interpretation of the Estuary and Gulf of St-Lawrence. From the Estuary and the Northern part of the Gulf of St-Lawrence, twenty-one (21) major maps have been prepared for the Anticosti Basin; three (3) time structure maps (Basement, Top Trenton - Black River and Top Jupiter), ten (10) paleogeographic reconstructions (Lower Cambrian to Pridolian "Upper Silurian"), five (5) geological interpretations from seismic crosssections, and three (3) isoreflectance maturation maps. Twenty-two (22) major maps have been prepared for the central and southern parts of the Gulf of St.Lawrence (Carboniferous sequence - Magdalen Basin) of which three (3) are time structural maps (Base Windsor, Top Windsor and Base Pictou), four (4) paleogeographic reconstructions, ten (10) tectostratigraphic cross-sections, two (2) seismic cross-sections, one (1) schematical cross-section, and finally two (2) maturation maps from Base Windsor and Base Pictou time structure maps. Other enclosures, figures and tables are included in this report to support the major base maps. It is recommended to follow up this 3G integration by further consulting the Horton Group of the Magdalen Basin. This will allow a better understanding of the origin of the basin (rift and/or strike slip movement) and will provide correlation of the Horton Group from the Bradelle Platform to the underlying salt depocenter (east of Magdalen Islands).
