Abstract | Information is presented on 700 suspended sediment samples collected within the waters of 9 Baffin Island fjords during September, 1982, including data on size chacteristics (Coulter Counter® analysis)
and particle-particle morphology (scanning electron microscope analysis). Geochemical information obtained from energy-dispersive X-ray analysis of selected samples and particles is also presented. Suspended particulate matter within these fjords
is mostly composed of particles in the silt and clay size range. Particle morphological types included floccules, planktonic fecal pellets, agglomerates including organo-mucoids, biogenic debris from mineralized phytoplankton and zooplankton, and
debris resuspended from the seafloor. |
