AbstractPort aux Basques area comprises soft Carboniferous sediments in the northwest part and harder, pre - Carboniferous metamorphic and crystal line rocks in the central and eastern parts. The age of the latter rocks is uncertain but some may be as old as Precambrian and others as young as Devonian, These rocks and the structural geology of the area are briefly described in this paper.
