Maps herein cover the Amer Belt and surrounds in outcrop, and their extensions beneath flat sandstone of the Amarook and Thelon formations in the Aberdeen Sub-basin. The Paleoproterozoic Amer Group comprises four major sequences: Ps1) white quartzarenite; Ps2) black graphitic slate, tan dolostone and dark green basalt; Ps3) grey-green-brown slate, feldspathic sandstone and slate; and Ps4) red to grey arkosic sandstone and mudstone. Ps1-3 were tightly folded and faulted with little metamorphism before Ps4 (~1.91 Ga). All Ps were structurally intercalated with Archean gneiss and supracrustal rocks and metamorphosed ca 1.83 Ga. Igneous suites are ca 2.6, 1.83, 1.75 and 1.27 Ga. Disseminated uraninite pods in feldspathic sandstone of Ps3 were deformed into SW plunging cigar shapes. Prospective strata and structures were geophysically traced under till and sandstone as guides for possible mineral development and other uses of the northeast Thelon Basin region of Nunavut.
